Human Needs Projects

Helping Swazi Baptist Churches minister to the community

School Fees for HIV/AIDS Orphans

Currently, we are trying to assist double orphans, which means that both parents have passed. There are numerous double orphans within our churches. Yet, we see an ever-increasing umber of single orphans. In this case one parent has passed and the other is not involved in the life or support of the child. The child usually live with a relative such as a grandmother or aunt or uncle. Even though the child does have somewhere to live, there usually is no money for school fees. Please pray for these children so they may attend school. Currently, the government has promised to help, yet we have seen very little assistance. Pray the resources will be available through the IMB and through Swazi Baptist churches to help meet the needs of this (these) project. Your faithfulness to give to the Cooperative Program and Lottie Moon helps us to respond to human needs like this and opens doors to share the love of Christ with people lost in despair and without hope.

Water/Garden Project

New Hope (Masanjeni) Baptist Church

We currently have the funding to install a borehole (well) at Masenjeni Baptist Church. The church is currently feeding orphans and widows in the community. The water supply will allow the church to provide water for the community as well as water for a garden. The garden will provide much needed vegetables for the church to cook. Please pray that the geological survey will show a water source. Also, pray for rain in this area. This area is experiencing severe drought. It has rained only once this year. The lowveld of Swaziland is experiencing a seven year drought.

Phuzumoya Baptist Church

Phuzumoya Baptist is in the lowveld of Swaziland. The community has been devastated due to the drought in the area. Phuzumoya has a plot of land on which they are trying to plant a garden. The Great Ustu River is next to the land. So there is a water source close to the garden, but there is no way to pump the water to the garden. The church is seeking a pump system so they may water the garden with water drawn from the river. Numerous church members have worked the garden and have managed to grow a very small crop of vegetables. Yet, this is not enough to sustain the widows and orphans in the area.

Velebantfu Baptist Church

Velebantfu Baptist Church wishes to reach out to the community and minister to those who are in need. The church has a vision for a large garden project. They have a plot of land and have planted on that land. they also have a water source. To complete the garden project the church needs plastic piping to water the garden.

Mkhaya Baptist Church

Preschool

Mkhaya Baptist Church is assisting with a preschool in the community. The preschool ministers to the AIDS orphans within their community. The school has approximately 40 students ranging in age from 6 to 16. These children are living in extreme poverty. Many of the children do not have proper clothing or shoes to wear to school. Currently, the school is receiving a small amount of food (corn meal) from the World Food Program. Yet, there is no water near the school to use in cooking the meal.
