FMI contact Al Jordan abjordan@africaonline.co.sz Other link www.imb.org/volunteer .Team Vision Statement: To be on mission with God to reach the people of Swaziland with the Gospel through facilitating a church planting movement. Team Mission Statement: The Swazi team will work with Southern Baptists, Swazi Baptists and other GCC groups to evangelize the lost, disciple believers, plant and develop churches, and minister to people in need. Primary Objectives of the Swazi Team: Ø To continue to expand the teams prayer network in support of the team’s ministry. Ø To promote and facilitate a CPM among the people of Swaziland, developing and implementing strategies of church planting which will produce new churches. Ø To train leaders in Swazi Baptist churches in Baptist doctrines and to disciple and train others in Sunday School and Discipleship Training for new believers. Ø To seek to minister to Swazis in the midst of the AIDS crisis and to respond to other human needs that may arise. Ø To promote and use Southern Baptist Volunteers to join the Swazi Team in achieving its primary objectives. LONG RANGE PLAN 1. The vision of the Swazi Team is to lead Southern Baptists and assist Swazis to be on mission with God, to give all Swazis in Swaziland the opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel in a biblical and culturally relevant way, and to facilitate an indigenous church planting movement. 2. The first step in realizing our vision is prayer. The Swazi Team will pray daily for the Swazi people whom God has called each of us to minister alongside. Recognizing how much prayer must be a part of our strategy in order for us to be effective, we will maintain regular contact with our prayer network and actively seek to enlarge this network through email contacts and while performing our STAS. We will ask our prayer partners to pray for a church planting movement among the Swazi people. 3. The second step in realizing our vision is to study and segmentize our Swazi population. We will divide the Swazi people in Swaziland into 10 segments and survey 100 people in each segment to determine the level of responsiveness of the people. To do the initial surveying we will seek to utilize volunteers to help us accomplish this goal. 4. The third step in realizing our vision is to utilize the information gathered from the study and surveys. Based on the information gathered we will determine which areas should receive the highest priority for making personnel requests. Personnel requests will then be made in consultation with the SC. In areas which show a low level of responsiveness to the gospel, our team will keep a “probing presence” in that area to monitor the level of responsiveness to the gospel. 5. The fourth step in realizing our vision is in regions where IMB personnel do serve we will seek to encourage a church planting movement by: 1) Utilizing the Pioneer Evangelism method adopted by the SAR. And as a team we will seek to model and teach Swazi pastors and church leaders the principles of PE. 2) Responding to human needs that could result in strengthening existing churches and starting new churches. 6. Finally, as a team we will evaluate and examine our progress regularly through self- assessments and an annual year-end review of goals and objectives accomplished. We will also evaluate our presence in various regions among the Swazi people seeking to determine an appropriate time for exit of personnel from that region. |
